Here at Helping Hands Training Specialists, we are committed to helping your organisation by delivering training in all things physical and mental health; now we would like to make a difference with regard to environmental health too. That’s why we have partnered with Ecologi to make Helping Hands Training Specialists a Climate Positive Workforce! We are working to offset all of our carbon emissions and reduce the impact we have on the planet we call home.
Ecologi are an environmental organisation which facilitates the funding of carbon offset projects and tree planting around the world, with their mission to reduce over 50% of global CO2 emissions by 2040. They believe that everyone should have access to the best solutions to save our planet. For this reason, we have partnered with Ecologi to help them reach this goal.
Therefore, for every purchase from our online shop, Ecologi will plant one tree in forests in Madagascar, Mozambique, and Nicaragua.
Through Ecologi, we have already planted over 100 trees, supporting over 4 projects across the globe. Here are two of the projects Helping Hands Training Specialists are supporting this month.
Mangrove planting in Madagascar:
In recent years, Madagascar has been subjected to vast areas of original forests being destroyed, forcing out and causing the removal of entire animal species and removing entire mangrove estuaries, leaving the pollution to wash away into the sea. These mangrove forests are crucial, not only for the removal of carbon in our planet, but crucial in providing safe habitats for a range of marine species, and coastal flood protection.
Through the work from Ecologi and the Eden Reforestation Project community, this will have funded the planting of 13 million mangrove trees, spanning an area of around 600 hectares, since 2019. This restoration will ensure the protection of many vulnerable forms of marine wildlife, but also bring a sense of community and pride back to the villages of Madagascar.
Reforestation projects in Mozambique:
In recent years, parts of Northern Mozambique have suffered from ongoing extremist threats. This conflict and unrest caused the moving of thousands of local Mozambique people, due to worsening development challenges such as providing access to education and healthcare. This project involves the reforestation of thousands of vital mangrove trees in the rural suburbs of Mozambique, providing flood defences and habitual protection to hundreds of marine species.
With the help of the Ecologi and Eden Reforestation Project community, we have funded the reforestation of nearly 6 million mangrove trees in the local community, helping to provide employment opportunities to local planters and forest guards, and ensuring the protection of local marine wildlife.
We are extremely proud to be supporting such an inspirational organisation like Ecologi, especially with the help of you, our customers! You are able to see our tree planting journey here and a more in-depth description of how your purchases are helping projects around the globe.
Helping Hands are committed to becoming a carbon positive workforce and minimising the impact we have on the planet. Our training courses focus on expanding understanding, knowledge and skills in social and professional aspects; by working with Ecologi we are ensuring that we can have a positive impact on the environment as well! Making the world a better place for all its inhabitants.
